April 2017 Sunday Scripture Readings

The practice of reading particular bible texts on specific days began in the 4th century church

The Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) gives us a three-year cycle of Sunday readings that focus on the different Gospels: Year A (Matthew) Year B (Mark), Year C (Luke), with readings from the Gospel of John spread out across all three years.¬†Readings for The Daily Office (Morning and Evening Prayer…) are from the Daily Office Lectionary.

The Calendar of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer provides the sanctoral cycle (saint and feast days and their specific readings).
